Travis Noblin Hicks, 81, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2015 with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 4, 1933 to the late Kenneth Holmes Hicks, Sr. and Mamie Alan Jones Hicks.
He retired from the Department of Transportation, after 36 years of service as an Engineer.
He was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Travis loved to fish, hunt, enjoyed growing a big garden, especially collards after retiring.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Locklear Johnson Hicks of 28 years, a daughter, Tammy Hicks O’Briant (Tim) of Roxboro, a son, Kenneth Travis Hicks (Betty) of Oxford, a step-son, James R. Johnson of Charlotte, a step-daughter, Rebecca Johnson Kavel (Chris) also of Charlotte.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, five step-grandchildren and five step great-great grandchildren.
He is survived by two brothers; Brent J. Hicks (Irene) of Morrisville and Carl G. Hicks (Linda) of Durham, two sisters; Elma H. Partin and Joyce H. Adcock Crowder of Oxford, two sisters-in-law, Arlene Hicks of Timberlake and Violet Hicks of Oxford.
His faithful and loving dog, Mollee.
Services will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 with visitation at 12 noon and funeral services to follow at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by Pastor Keith Williams, Dr. Randy Bridges and Dr. Lavelle Waters.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Chance Sanford and Corey Sanford and great grandson, Austin Tingen, Bradley Hopkins, Roy (Monk) Whitt and Warren Cooke.
